Davis High School, in an effort to fill the vacancy left by long-time football coach Jody Weber, tabled the hiring of a head football coach on Tuesday night at a special board of education meeting. Weber stepped down in January after leading the Wolves for 17 years, including two seasons that culminated in state championships.

Davis, however, did hire Trey Owens as high school principal at the special meeting. Owens, a Davis native, coached Lone Grove for two seasons, including a 3-7 campaign in 2017.

- In Duncan, head football coach and athletic coordinator Craig Benson stepped down to pursue a career outside of education.

“I took a job outside of education because when you get my age there are not many opportunities like that to present themselves and I felt like it was the best thing for my family,” Benson told the Duncan Banner.

- Tulsa Memorial hired Brian Worrell as the Chargers’ new head football coach on Monday. Worrell has been on the Memorial coaching staff the past seven years, and he takes over for Ryan Reed.
