Friday nights are here. Fall is around the corner. Food is never far from my mind no matter what time of year it is.
There are the usual spots that people are familiar with. The ones that have a wait and the ones that seem to be closed every time you show up. Finding that right place to eat before a football game is one of the most difficult decisions a family can have on that Friday night road trip.
My goal is to make it a little easier for you if you're coming to the northwest Oklahoma City metro area for Piedmont vs. El Reno this week.
The game itself should be a dandy. El Reno has the recent edge but the last several games have been close. This year should be no different. If you're in the vicinity, you need to make Green Chile Kitchen in Yukon a must visit. Located on old Route 66 on the east side of Yukon, Green Chile Kitchen doesn't disappoint.
Go with the Green Chile Queso for starters, and add beef for a few more dollars -- you won't be let down. The New Mexican Street Corn is really good, as well and also the Shishito Peppers are great for those who like peppers. For the main course, I've never been disappointed with anything I've ever had; the fajitas are good (sizzling and full of flavor) and so is the Enchilada Combination (an enchilada, tamale, and a crispy taco).
If you're a margarita fan, this place is for you as well. Big mason jars with lots of options; green chile or strawberry seem to be the go to's.
I've never left disappointed in Green Chile. I have noticed the busier they are, the more on their game they seem to be. Try it....You'll come back. Oh and #triple....
