Someplace I like to eat - Thai Café
Originally, we were supposed to be traveling to Hinton this Friday, but COVID had other plans, so now we will be traveling to Stillwater.
This upcoming trip allowed me to highlight one of the true gems of dining in Stillwater, and really Oklahoma, and that’s Thai Café.
During my time at OSU, Thai Café was on the weekly rotation of must-go-to places to eat in Stillwater. Several of my friends who have traveled the country swear that Thai Café is as good, if not better, as any Thai place they have ever been.
I asked some of my friends, what their favorite Thai Café entrees were to share with everyone else.
I also want to say that if you have been hesitant of trying Thai food before, this is the place to give it a try! If we can come to love and appreciate the quality that is Thai Café, anyone can!
My only suggestion is that if asked what level of spice you want, go with a 2 or 3 and not 19 like my good friend Jayme Ross did one time.
For reference, I don’t mind spicy food, but I could never go higher than 4 spice.
Thai Café is on Husband Street, right off 6th Street. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
Now for my buddies’ favorites:
Jeff - Pad Kee Mao with shrimp (Pad Kee Mao is thick flat noodles with veggies)
Dan and Jayme – Red Duck Curry (Red bell pepper, potato, bamboo, basil and coconut milk)
Jared – Massaman Curry (Potato, onion, cashews, coconut milk)
Myself- Pad Kee Mao/Thai Fried Rice/Yellow Curry (Pineapple, Carrot, potato, onion, coconut milk)
Someplace to eat if you’re going to GOTW - Tuttle at Harrah – Ingrid’s Kitchen
Basically you have the entire OKC metro to your disposal.
Before it closed, I would have suggested Old Germany Restaurant in Choctaw since it is October and its close proximity to Harrah.
Since it’s not, I want to direct you to another fantastic German-inspired place – Ingrid’s Kitchen.
The place is in a really cool building, has an in-house bakery and meat market, and the food coming out of the kitchen is top notch!
The sausage and schnitzels are great and I love the various potato sides.
The desserts are out of this world, and especially - shocker here - the German chocolate cake.
Now, here is the big secret. While Ingrids is open every day, I highly suggest going for the weekend brunch.
Along with all the great lunch/dinner type options, you will also get some awesome breakfast selections, too, like streusel, waffles, eggs Benedict, breakfast casserole and my favorite thing, several UNLIMITED dessert choices.
The best part, brunch is all you can eat!
So if you’re looking for a great place in OKC for breakfast, lunch or dinner (or BRUNCH) check out Ingrid’s Kitchen at 3701 N. Youngs Blvd.
Something to make at home – Oreo Fluff
I had a student bring me this last school year and it was awesome, especially if you’re into Oreos (Shocker No. 2...I’m into Oreos).
After I tried it, I assumed incorrectly it has a handful of ingredients to make it so tasty.
That’s not the case.
Here we go, brace yourself.
Oreo Fluff Ingredients: 1 bag of double stuff Oreos, 1 large container of Cool Whip, and...that’s it!
Smash the entire package of Oreos to pieces and then mix with the large container of Cool Whip. Once mixed, put back in in fridge or freezer for an hour to get happy and then enjoy.
It’s really that simple and yes it’s absolutely awesome!
