Bedlam BBQ
OK it's Week 2 and it is time for me to point you towards some BBQ!
Bedlam BBQ is located at 610 NE 50th Street, just north of the Capitol in OKC.
The first time I went to Bedlam BBQ was with our friends who work nearby and are frequent customers. When we walked in, I knew it was going to be a solid BBQ place!
It just has the look and smell of a quality BBQ joint.
You order your food as soon as you walk in and waiting for you at the register is a cooler full of cold desserts, all homemade and almost impossible to pass up (we will talk about these in a second).
After ordering, it’s time to head to the drink station where I always get myself a sweet tea (shocker, I know).
At this point, if you’re dining in, it’s time to make an important decision: Eat inside or outside?
While the inside is definitely nice and probably the smart decision in the summer, Bedlam BBQ just happens to have one of the best patio areas of any restaurant that I have ever been to in Oklahoma.
If the weather is pleasant, I highly suggest you eat outside because it’s awesome.
They even have some live music on the weekends, lots of shade and a fireplace if it’s a little cooler.
As for the BBQ, which I have had about five times now, I have always been very satisfied with the ribs, sausage, bologna and the “Jeff’s Favorite” sandwich which is sliced brisket, hot links and coleslaw on a bun (did I just list an entire BBQ menu in one sentence?).
All the meats have the level of tenderness and smoke that make for some very good BBQ.
One of my favorite things about Bedlam BBQ is an excellent sauce that really adds to the flavor profile of all the meats.
As for sides, I really like the macaroni salad and okra.
As for the desserts I mentioned earlier…I always get a piece of strawberry cake to finish off the meal!
It just really completes the experience nicely, but I must admit, the other dessert selections look good too!
If you are going to Bedlam BBQ, my expert recommendation would be to get a “Jeff’s Favorite” with a sweet tea and strawberry cake and eat outside if the weather allows.
You will not be disappointed!
Something for home – Cunningham Peaches from Colorado
Do you like peaches?
If you answered yes, have you ever had Cunningham Peaches?
If that answer is no, you must find some and get some by any means possible.
THEY ARE THE BEST PEACHES ON THE PLANET!
I know that statement will anger anyone from Georgia and maybe the good folks here in Oklahoma from Stratford and Porter. However, I don’t know a single person who has ever had one and didn’t agree.
Cunningham Peaches are from Palisade, Colo., and they send trucks all over Oklahoma.
A quick “like” of their Facebook page and you can see all the places they are delivering to.
You should probably get there early and you might have to wait in line a bit, but it’s well worth it.
My household is currently on its second box of the summer.
I highly suggest getting the large size peaches!
My favorite way to eat them is simply pealed with some cinnamon sugar, but you definitely can’t go wrong with a scoop of vanilla ice cream/whipped cream, or in a cobbler or dump cake.
You need to get some Cunningham Peaches while you can and really taste the difference! They are the best!
