In Edmond/North OKC metro, there is an incredible Mexican place that you must try if haven’t yet – Leonardo’s Mexican Grill located at 2125 NW 178th Street. 


Thanks to the encouragement and recommendation of SKORDLE Pay Dirt celebrity host Andy Campbell and some of our neighbors down the street, Leonardo’s Mexican Grill has become one of our favorite places to eat in the metro area! 


Inside, Leonardo’s has a very nice, clean and welcoming dining area where wait staff will greet you with both kindness and promptness! 




Traditional setup is always included with the chips, traditional red salsa, yellow cheese and the knockout 5-star green salsa which we will discuss further in just a minute. 


Food is served hot and fresh and the portions are perfect.


While everything inside is top notch at Leonardo’s, where they have really excelled in my opinion during the last year or so is the takeout business.


My dine in/take out ratio here is about 25%/75%, and mainly this is because they do such a great job with their takeout. It’s also probably because it’s on the way home back from the many trips to the OKC area. 


Dining in or carrying out, either is perfect when it comes to Leonardo’s Mexican Grill. 


Now, let’s discuss my favorite items at Leonardo’s. 


First and foremost is the Green Salsa, Salsa Verde, Avocado Salsa, Jalapeno Crema, or Cilantro Jalapeno Avocado Sauce.


For this article, we will go with Green Salsa because that’s what I call it and it is simply out of this world!



As far as I know, and I have eaten at a ton of them, Leonardo’s is the only Mexican restaurant serving this stuff. 


It’s cold, creamy and spicy, but literally the perfect amount of each of these three qualities. 


We always ask for extra Green Salsa when we get takeout because it goes quick. On a chip or on your food, it only makes it better! 


Secondly, the White Queso is also excellent! 


Everything I just said about the Green Salsa utilization would also apply to the White Queso. 


On a chip, on your food or straight off the spoon, it’s awesome. My recommendation: like the Green Salsa, just go ahead and put it on everything. 


Lastly, my favorite meal is the Shredded Chicken Enchiladas topped with, you guessed it, White Queso and Green Sauce. OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!!! 


For all my friends from Northwest Oklahoma/Red Dirt Country that have ever been to El Charro Mexican Restaurant in Canton, these enchiladas are basically identical. 


We get the $40 Family pack which is 12 enchiladas, rice, beans, chips, red salsa, green salsa, yellow cheese dip and white queso dip.



This is a lot of food for $40 and basically two meals at our house: dinner that night and lunch the next the next day. 


The Family Pack is the way to go on takeout and an incredible value for this quality of food! 


If you are in the area and looking for a new, fresh and different Mexican food joint in Edmond or North Oklahoma City, I highly recommend Leonardo’s Mexican Grill! 


You will not be disappointed and that Green Sauce is going to change your life! 


Put it on everything…and the white queso too! 


It’s ok, no one is going to judge you!
