Beggs dominated Kiefer from the start last Friday to win 44-14 on the road remain undefeated in District 2A-7.

The Demons were led, as usual, by their two workhorse running backs.

CJ Brown and Red Martel combined for more than 350 yards and five touchdowns as Beggs improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the district.

Beggs’ Jeremiah Olden broke open what was a defensive stalemate with a great punt return midway through the first quarter, setting up his offense from the Kiefer 29 yard line.

Two plays later, Martel powered into the end zone on a 10-yard run.

The two-point conversion by Olden was successful.

Beggs’ defense came up with two sacks and forced a punt, then a fantastic 54-yard run by Brown pushed the ball into Trojan territory.

Martel finished the drive with a 27-yard touchdown run on the next play.

Quarterback Ayden Hamilton ran in the two-point conversion to expand the lead to 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.

A fumble by Beggs deep in its own territory set up a short field as the Trojans started at the Beggs 2.

A touchdown pass to Nick Byrd from Marek Matheson cut the Trojan deficit in half, 16-8.

Toward the end of the first half, the Beggs defense came up with an interception courtesy of defensive back Kyron Grayson.

Working with a short field, Brown punched in his first score from just 8 yards away.

In the third quarter, the Beggs offense kept pounding away running the ball.

Hamilton had a nice 39-yard carry to set up his offense. Brown then ran in his second touchdown of the game from 13 yards away, inflating the lead to 30-8 midway through the third quarter.

The fourth quarter started with a Martel touchdown run of 72 yards, which effectively ended Martel and Brown’s nights.

Grayson took advantage of his increased chances and converted a 57-yard touchdown of his own midway through the fourth quarter.

Kiefer got a drive going late in the game, with backup quarterback Jaxon Worley completing a 17-yard pass to Jack Harris.

Harris also had a couple carries on the drive. The drive was capped off by a Harris 2-yard touchdown run, making the score 44-14.

Martel ran for 211 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries, while Brown piled on 157 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.

Hamilton also had 81 yards on the ground and Kyron Grayson had 112 yards to add on in the fourth quarter.

Kiefer dropped to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the district. The Trojans are set to play at Metro Christian in a Week 9 game that could determine third and fourth in the district.

Beggs will face Haskell and Victory Christian in the final two weeks.

Both Beggs and Victory Christian should be 6-0 in district play when they meet in Week 10, setting up a winner-take-all game for the district title.
