The Victory Christian Conquerors took home the District 2A-7 title on Saturday night, beating the visiting Beggs Demons 27-26 in a come-from-behind thriller.

Both teams were undefeated in district play through six games, but it was the Demons who ultimately fell.

The Conquerors were led by quarterback Triton Chandler on offense, having both a passing and rushing touchdown. Chandler’s favorite target, Joshua Uduomoh, was spectacular in the fourth quarter alone, catching three passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.

The Victory Christian defense came up with big stops throughout against a Demon offense that was led by CJ Brown.

Their biggest stop came on Beggs’ the last drive of the game.

The Demon offense drove all the way down to face a fourth and goal at the Conqueror 15-yard line.

The secondary locked receivers up forcing quarterback Ayden Hamilton to scramble before he was pulled down from behind to lock up the win for the Conquerors.

The Conqueror offense scored early in the first quarter, taking a 7-0 lead behind a Solomon Byrams 1-yard touchdown run.

The offense failed to score again until the fourth quarter as the Demon defense stiffened after the early score.

The Conquerors gave up 20 unanswered points in the meantime and trailed 20-7 going into the fourth quarter.

Chandler found Uduomoh for a 42-yard gain on Victory’s first drive of the fourth quarter, setting up a touchdown run from 3 yards away by Chandler.

On their next drive, Chandler went back to Uduomoh quickly. From the midfield line, Chandler delivered a touchdown pass to Uduomoh.

On their very next drive, Chandler once again went deep to his top receiver. He finds Uduomoh for a 35-yard gain, completing his stellar quarter.

Byrams would punch it in on a gritty 28-yard touchdown run on the next play.

The Beggs offense shined during the Conqueror drought.

After the Victory Christian score in the first quarter, Beggs drove down the field early in the second quarter.

A play action pass to tight end Braylon Davis from Ayden Hamilton got the Demons on the board.

Late in the second quarter, Brown recorded a 44- yard run that set up the offense deep in Conqueror territory. Brown punched it in from 10 yards away to take the 12-7 lead going into halftime.

There were no scores in the third quarter, but the Demon offense got a 19-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Olden on the first play of the fourth quarter.

That gave Beggs what appeared to be an insurmountable 20-7 lead.

Later in the quarter, the Demons only led 20-14.

Wide receiver Kyron Grayson had a breakaway run that went 79 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 26-14.

The Beggs offense would not score again.

They had a three-and-out on their next drive and then had the final drive that was stopped short.

Victory Christian now will host at least two home playoff games beginning this week with Adair.

Beggs will host the Sequoyah-Claremore Eagles.
